These terms and conditions govern all safari bookings, reservations, and tour arrangements made through bookkumanasafari.com and directly with our safari desk. By booking or reserving a safari with Book Kumana Safari, you agree to the terms set out below. Please review them carefully.

1. Safari Expedition Types

Book Kumana Safari provides two distinct categories of wildlife expeditions into Kumana National Park:

Reservation Confirmation: A private safari booking is confirmed once payment has been received and verified by our operations team. You may choose between a full payment or a deposit advance (25% upfront to secure your private jeep, with the remaining 75% balance settled prior to departure), as specified during checkout.

Payment Method: Payment is completed by bank transfer to our verified bank account. After submitting your transfer, you must provide your payment slip via our secure website receipt portal or send it directly to our WhatsApp desk with your Booking Reference number. Once verified (typically within a few hours, maximum 24 hours), your official Safari Expedition Voucher will be issued.

Pricing: Private safari prices are charged in United States Dollars (USD) according to our transparent group tiered pricing tables based on your party headcount (1 to 7 persons).

3. Join-In Sharing Safari Bookings & Protocol

Inquiry and Group Coordination: Because sharing safaris depend on group matchmaking, open date schedules, and hotel pickup logistics, sharing safaris are arranged and confirmed directly via our WhatsApp Desk or Phone Line rather than automated fixed online checkout.

Vehicle Capacity & Passenger Comfort: To ensure high comfort and excellent photography opportunities, shared safari jeeps operate with a strict maximum limit of 6 passengers per vehicle, ensuring everyone enjoys uncrowded, unobstructed safari viewing.

Shared Pickup Timing & Route: A sharing safari picks up guests from multiple hotels across Arugam Bay and Panama. Your safari coordinator will communicate your precise pickup window the evening prior to your safari. You must be in your hotel lobby or reception at the confirmed time. To ensure fairness to fellow passengers waiting in the vehicle, the driver cannot delay departure indefinitely for late arrivals.

Minimum Group Requirement: Sharing arrangements are coordinated directly by our safari desk through WhatsApp or phone. Contact the team to confirm availability and any changes. The cancellation policy below applies to sharing arrangements as well.

4. Passenger Etiquette on Shared Safaris

When participating in a Join-In Sharing Safari, all passengers agree to uphold a spirit of mutual courtesy and wildlife respect:

• Fair Viewing & Photography: Share vantage points generously so every guest has an unobstructed view of wildlife sightings.
• Quiet Observation: Keep conversations low and avoid sudden loud noises that could frighten animals or disturb fellow wildlife watchers.
• Punctuality: Adhere strictly to the agreed pickup, rest stop, and departure schedules.
• Driver-Guide Authority: Respect all guidance and safety decisions made by your experienced driver-guide throughout the journey.

5. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Full Day and Half Day Safari Bookings:

• Cancellation notice received more than 14 days before the arrival date: 90% of total booking value is refundable. A non-refundable 10% fee is retained.

  Cancellation notice received 14 days or less before the arrival date: 0% refund. No show: 0% refund.

  The same cancellation policy applies to full day and half day safaris and to sharing arrangements. Sharing arrangements are handled directly through WhatsApp or phone.

  For a part-paid booking, the retained fee is based on total booking value; only the payment received after that fee can be returned. Unpaid money is not refundable.

  Arrival dates use Sri Lanka time. Completed safaris are not eligible for refunds. Refund approval and the actual bank transfer are separate steps.

  After your refund is approved, please allow 2 to 4 weeks for our team to process the refund payment. We will send you confirmation once the transfer is completed.

  These terms apply to new bookings. Existing reservations retain the policy accepted when booked.

6. Official Park Closures & Weather Force Majeure

Contact our reservations team if an official park closure affects your safari. Any alternative arrangement must be confirmed directly with the team.

We are not liable for incidental secondary travel expenses incurred by travelers, such as personal airfares or external hotel reservations, and strongly encourage all guests to carry comprehensive travel insurance.

7. Traveler Responsibilities & Park Regulations

Health & Physical Suitability: Kumana safaris involve rugged off-road driving over dirt tracks and sand dunes. Safaris may not be suitable for travelers who are pregnant, individuals with severe back or neck conditions, or guests with acute mobility constraints. Please consult our team before booking if you have physical considerations.

Park Regulations: While inside Kumana National Park, all guests must strictly adhere to the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) laws:

• Remain inside the safari jeep at all times, except at officially designated DWC rest stations.
• Never feed, tease, call out to, or disturb wild animals.
• No littering or discarding plastic or trash inside the national park.
• No alcohol consumption or smoking inside the park premises.
• Drones and aerial photography devices are strictly prohibited without prior written clearance from the DWC and Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority.

8. Wildlife Sightings Disclaimer

Kumana National Park is an authentic, untamed wilderness. While our local trackers possess years of tracking knowledge and will maximize your viewing opportunities for leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and migratory birds, wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. The natural behavior of animals cannot be controlled.

9. Liability & Insurance

We maintain high safety standards with well-serviced safari vehicles and licensed local driver-guides. However, safari travel carries inherent natural risks. To the fullest extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, Book Kumana Safari is not liable for personal injury, property loss, or damage resulting from unpredictable natural events or participant failure to follow guide instructions.
